anyone been there lately they have huge h. psittacus, but they have worst colors ive ever seen on them

:iagree::popcorn:

There are a few in there. The larger ones are very very old, that could be why their colors don't look so great. The still breed often though.

How big are they (roughly)?

Maybe it's time to thin out my little group...

are yours showing any aggression towards each other or tankmates? i think my are actually getting picked on more than dishing it out. my larges one is prolly 4.5" while the smallest is maybe 3"

I only witnessed one liplocking. They are very peaceful but can stand their own (well, it's not like they are kept with highly aggressive fish...). Mine are 5+ now and showing a lot of red and green. Very cool fish but I want more eartheaters :D

talking about total derail of a thread :D:D:D

lol well it is a year old thread

mine, even the little ones are showing some nice red under their chin

They have some in the huge Amazon display at the Newport (Kentucky) Aquarium across the river from Cincinnati. Dan Hagley, the guy in charge of some of the aquariums there, seemed proud to have them, I thought they looked good. I was last there in late October and snapped some photos. But they didn't come out very well. The glass was curved where they were hanging out because of the tunnel you walk through. It was tough to take pics there. I picked out the best two to post here, but they aren't great.

Anyone going to the ACA convention this year in Cincinnati be sure to get to the Newport Aquarium. And when you do, also look for the Caquetaia spectabilis cichlids I donated to them. They are not in the Amazonian display, they are in a smaller aquarium.
