I guess it coulda been a fluke. Maybe it was a bullet with the wrong amount of gun powder? Idk..

More likely got between the shell and underlying soft tissue and was guided around the turn back to the shooter. Anything within 20 or 30 degrees of perpendicular (even a .22 gauge) would have penetrated easily. One real lucky armadillo there. Still would have a nasty wound to heal, but he'll live.

It was one of them Columbian Smuggling types Armed-adillos! I hear they carry glocks to get past the electric border control fences without getting zapped or detected even!
He probably shot back in self defense!
