Okay, so I was out with my friends one night, it had been pouring for the last week or so, and they came to pick me up. I got in the car, we drove off, turned a corner and saw a frog boucing on the street! I caught him and now he's my new pet!

I've had frogs before, all of them caught and bred a few from tadpoles, but none of them I've kept for long. Now I want to keep this one properly, so I wanna know some stuff and get some advise! .

What should I use for land? Gravel I don't think is a good idea for frogs, but soil is too dirty because it's gonna be like half land/half water. I read on some other thread, something about...dried moss or something.

Does the water needs to be ciruclated or even filtered? I plan on maybe putting some fish in there, will my frog eat the fish? Also, do I need to heat the water?

I'll post pics later, but he's brown. I've always wanted somethng like a green tree frog, oh well...this one will do!

1. are u sure hes a frog and not a toad?
2.i used sand for my terrerium,i separated the water and the sand so it didnt get wet
3.filter the water, cause frog crap is gross and turns the water yellow
4.if it is a toad, just put a water dish in there, cause toads dont swim

try to use a screen insted of glass lids, you will need UV-a and UV-b spectrum lighting, most frogs like warmer conditions about 25degree C, That's about 76 F for you other people in the world... all depends on the type of frog/toad when it comes to housing..

sphagnum moss ,it retains moisture in a terrarium

WE need pics, Australia has several species of native frog and they very widely in requirements. Some do eat small fish but most eat insects, cane toads eat everything.
