Found one of my female peacocks had jumped out of the tank. Now I am down to 1M/5F. I think I need to look into getting another male. The one I do have, as good as he does look, stays hidden all day. He never comes out from under his rock. I think I need a little more competition in the tank to get things going.

Awww that sucks man. What kind of peacock is it? I agree, get another male to compete with the other male. Peacocks are fairly peaceful, so it should work, but they can be aggro towards conspecifics though. Sorry for the loss.

Yeah they can be aggressive especially if one of the males is smaller. My large Eureka Red male killed the smaller one I think. It may just be the water that killed it though.

The jacobfreibergis are considered to be the more aggro peacocks. But it really depends on how big of a tank you have. If there isn't enough territories for two males, then more likely the sub-dominant male will be bullied always. I had two male red shoulders kept together peacefully, there were occasionally some chasing and there, but nothing serious.

They are all in a 70G corner unit for now. There are plenty of hiding spaces, so I think another male will fit in just perfect. Oh, btw, they are German reds/Ruby Reds.

Wow, do you have pics of the Ruby reds/German reds? Ruby reds/German reds are very nice and are one of my favorite species of Aulonocara. I've heard of them to be fairly peaceful. Good luck and hope it works out.

I have one pics of the show male, but it is a pic taken by the previous owner, so I don't want to post it around. As soon as I can get the male to come out from under his rock, I will snap a few shots of him.

You should be fine.

I've kept Jacob Peacocks and never had a problem conspecific aggression.
I have seen a little male chasing male when the smaller male was introduced, but it stopped after about 2-3 days when the smaller guy got settled in and relaxed. I've got at least 20 peacocks in my tank now (mixed sex) and no aggression at all. The Eureka Red males even swim together sometimes..

But I could see a problem with multiple mature males in a 20 gallon or something more confined..

Edit: sorry about your loss, too. That's always sad.

Oh where, oh where had my little Mike gone?

Gald to see you finally came back. I have huge plans in the works. I need another madman to bounce these ideas off of.

OK, back to the topic. I am going to work on finding another decent size male. A couple of inches would work. I will try and get some pics, but he doesn't come out very often.
