So in my 75 growout tank i have a 9 inch ck and a 9 inch mala wolf. Both have been fine with each other with a chase here or there. Well today i come home and both fish are hiding and acting wierd. I look closer and see that my wolf has scales ripped up and the ck and a small chunk of flesh hanging below his mouth and some teeth scratches on his body. I threw some healer in the tank and fed them which they both ate. By the looks of it it had to be a good fight but it worries me because i was hoping they would be fine together until the larger tank was up. Will try to get some pics if i can

yeah. normally, as a general rule, you expect a little knocking around. even a scale here and there might go missing. when chunks of flesh start sloughing off, it's time to separate.
i would also separate the instant i saw a marked change in behavior (hiding, not eating ,etc). do it. no question.

yea that could work but it wont be hard to get rid of one of them. I hate to do it but they seem fine now but thats not saying much

Make sure your divider is secure. My brother had a Jag and Dovii separated. They were able to knock it down....and the Apocalypse started. Neither died, but there were some massive battle wounds that took months to health. He eventually had to get rid of the Dovii.

I am not a fan of divided tanks. I would put them in separate tank or get rid of the one of them if multiple tanks aren't an option.

Why? Granted I've never kept fish this large divided, but if it's a temporary growout tank I'm curious as to why you don't like them. 75 gallons for 2 9" fish seems ok. Not optimal, but doable.
