I just had to cut my peacock eel in half. He got stuck in a hole in the refugium and both ends swole up. the others chewed his tail up real bad and i didnt know if he'd last much longer so i cut him out with a razor and he dies pretty quickly.

Ewwwwwwww tough decision to make there. I'm sure some people will disagree ,but in the end it's your fish and you do what you think is best. Sorry for your loss.
Wow! Tough loss! I had a violet goby get stuck in a plastic rock work cave thing and die. I had to pull him apart with plyers. It wasn't fun. 
I remember when I used to work in a pet store, a Sleeper Goby got stuck in the intake. We had to stab it with a screw driver to pry it out.
Ouch. That sucks man. Hope it wasn't too traumatizing for you....If it makes ya feel any better I had to take out my 11" silver arowana and put her out of her misery. Had her since she was 3". It was rough, but she was suffering. Sometimes you just have to do things that are unenjoyable.
