that was the setting for one of my exodon tanks. i added more plants to it, and DIY CO2. the other pic is up there in post #5

gotta love the hagen GLO lights. theyre pretty good, and fairly priced.
Nice work. Ill keep it in mind I got a light setup that came junked a while back so ive been running my 90 and 75 on single 48" fluorescent bulbs which is not all that fascinating.

Thanks for all the feedback.

If I keep the glass on top, it won't diffuse the lights enough to mess with the plants I intend on planting, will it?

The price sucks.

for example
$150 for the 2x54W fixture on petsolutions.com
bulbs are not included

2x54W nova extreme fixture = $125, bulbs are included

on ebay, the cheapest price I can find is $130 shipped for the glo fixture (bulbs still not included)
The nova fixture is $110 shipped.

i have a Glo fixture that i won in a raffle. if it werent that i got it free, i would look elsewhere. the fixture is cheaply made, and the fact that it doesnt have an on/off switch is simply retarded. even with a timer, you have to reach under the cabinet or behind the tank to turn the lights off. sheer stupidity on hagen's part.

i would definitely go with another brand. for the price, you can get a fixture made by catalina aquarium. the quality is so much better. higher quality ballasts, reflectors, housing, and you get your choice of free bulbs. its a no-brainer.

here's is an excellent 4ft 3 bulb T5HO fixture for $140, WITH bulbs. http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/pro...=1638&osCsid=c5804592f59311f009ac95ea992e8abc

That is the fixture I have on my 75. It is great, good quality and very sleek.

I agree that Hagen should have put an on/off switch on this light before they released it. I had heard that they were rushing to get the product out in time for christmas the year it came out and thats why it has no switch..

that being said, I LOVE the look of the T5 Powerglo bulbs I have seen in use.

yeah the bulbs they make are awesome, the fixtures, not so much. just buy the bulbs and put them in another fixture :)

I had heard they they don't fit most other HO fixtures. apparently hagen made them an odd size so you could only use their bulbs? '

that could be wrong though.
yeah ive heard that about all T5HO bulbs; that theyre all different sizes. but the difference is hardly noticeable. ive used the hagen bulbs in Nova and Catalina fixtures with no problems
