Hey guys should i go with the Hagen Aqua clear power filter, or the Emperor 400 with the bio wheels?

If you search you'll find like 100 of these threads. You'll find many who love and/or hate both or one or the other.
I personally didn't like my AC110 *but* it's the only one I've had. The filter tube was split at the seam out of the box and needed siliconed. Then it sucked up sand once and never was the same again. It made these horrid grinding noises. I cleaned it probably 10 times, still didn't matter. So I trashed it.
I've had 5 or so Biowheel filters and they all work great.

whether this question has been asked 1000 of times is irrelivent. someone is asking for help and helping others out is what message boards are for.
I have not had a 400 but I have a penguin 350 and an ac110. I have a small aquaclear thats over 20 years old and I still use the sponge. I run double sponges and wash one of them out with each water change on my ac 110. the cost savings of both power and media make the aquaclear worth it to me. mine does not make any more noise then any others I have had. hope that stays true now that I use a sand bottom.
