i was wondering i'm starting to see this hair like algae growing on my sand in my tank.i have not been running my lights all day but this still keeps coming back after 3 days is there anyway to get rid of this

Is it a new tank setup? Is the bioload really small. I have a tank that grows that hair algea. I was reading about it and found out that it is because the tank is for really small fry and has no NO3 or NO4. A tank with no ammonia (and I mean absolute 0) will suposedly grow this algea.

this tank has been setup for a long time i never had this problem i do wc every 3 days this has just started about 2 weeks now it's really making my tank look bad.i just have a baby flowerhorn in it it's a 65g

Your water levels are too perfect. If you have no NH4, you will grow this algea. Most tanks NH4 is .1-.4 ppm. If it is a 0 ppm, then you will grow this algea. Try backing off your water changes for a few weeks to a month and it may start to die off. Remember, this is nitrate (NH4) ... not nitrite (NH3). You want 0 nitrite (NH3).
