haitian cichlid hopefully will not get bloat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No reason he should bloat. Try to abstain from overfeeding "don't stuff him like a turkey". Keep the water clean. I do large... At least 50% water changes on my Haitian cichlid tanks every three-four days. Power heads or any additional air source is really beneficial almost essential to keeping these guys in prime shape. Best of luck.

To me that looks male - females are quite a bit darker aren't they? Even when theyre not breeding. Very nice Haitensis you have there.

looks male, he looks roughly 3-4 inches which is a tender age for them. Be careful, once you get them to about 6-7" you're in the clear.

+1. Its a male 100%. You can feed pretty much anything u want as long as u don't over feed. And if u Have tankmates ensure he is the dominant fish at all times. Warmer water helps too around 80-85 is good. But the oxygen Is key. And try not to move him from tank to tank or add or subtract tankmates if possible till he's at least 5". Basically u want to keep stress level to a minimum. My last group I had 100% success. I fed veggie flake to massivore and no issues. I Also grew them out in species tank. Great looking lil Guy by the way and keep us posted:)

These fish do need daily water changes and can't live with other fish it's not that there aggressive it's just they bloat pretty fast if they fight or get hurt(Stress). Good Luck

looks male.. dont over feed ,and give it a mixed diet and dont let it get to stressed and it should be fine, but keep some epson salt around just in case it does happen...good luck...
