I'm not a Haitiensis expert, but it is my understanding that these fish, tetracanthus and especially beani are suseptible to bloat. Some say stress cause it, others say food...I would guess a combination of the 2.
If you want to try out Haitiensis, get a big tank, buy several (in case there are casualties from bloat) and feed them a nice combination of high quality foods with lots of fiber (vegetable matter). Once they hit 3-4", I believe their risk of bloat goes down. Once you pick your favorite fish, sell the remainder and you should be fine.
This is just the simple man's opinion on what to do. Any Haitiensis owners out there might have better advice for you.
Luckily Haitiensis aren't too hard to find, so give it a try and good luck!
