Will 6 2 inch Haits work in a 75g with a lot of decor?

6 2'' anything will work in any 75g tank, the problem is what do you do with 6 4'' haits that are now starting to need more space and begin to pick off eachother.

That's plenty of space for them for now. You got about 3-5 months until you need to start planning the next step.

I know 6 fish 2 inch work but haits are pron to bloat so this is more what i was trying to get at. I would be growing them to get a pair then sell the rest.

Then yes, a pair will suffice. You have time.

Cool thanks, I figure larger tank with alot of hiding spots and deflection of site will aid in there success. Also the rest the rules, high 80s lots of air and low stress

From my experience, the best way would be to divide the tank in 6 separate compartments 1 hait in each compartment, with a cave in each, where each one can disappear and feel safe, until they choose a partner.
Haits tend to bloat when they feel intimidated, if they feel secure and unstressed they survive.
When I first tried Haits I tried 12 in a 150 gal. All died.
The next time, I tried 6 in a 125, 5 died.
Beside a totally stressfree environment as far as aggression goes, warm temps are needed. In nature they live in temps in the high 80s and low 90s F, look up the article "Oh Island in the Sun, The Dominican Republic" by Alf Stalsberg on cichlidae.com, or Breeding Cichlasoma Haitiensus from an old Tropical Fish Hobbyist mag where the compartment idea cam from, sorry I can't remember the year.
Pics below are my pair that successfully spawned many times, following the above advice.

Thanks duanes, I know the compartment work but Im getting six, wont six compartents be to small for a 75g how long could they stay like that for? I guess I can put them like that untill I know which I want!

I tried 15 three inch haits in a 125 with no deaths. Of course as soon as I could sex males I ensured I left two in 125 and pulled other males out into Individual tanks. Left two males witg 10 females and It worked out fine until pairs started to form around 4" then I removed the pairs and sold remaining females. If your using a 75 imo its too small for whats needed with haits. But best advice is to ensure that each one has at least one cave or hiding spot, it can be 3" or more away from tbe next spot. Keep temps up around 88 add extra airstones or anything that contributes to oxygen level. Also the less u mess with them the better!!! And put tank in low traffic area. Haits aren't for everyone bro. It takes a lot of patients. Hell I've sold people haits from that particular group which I had no problems with and walked them thru care just to find out they killed it lol
