I was reading on the internet and found people who have fish tanks with fish on the bottem and some kind of arboreal lizard or frog in the top half. they filled the tank halfway with water then put vines and slate coming out of the sides. i was just wandering does anyone here do that? if so can u get some pics up cause it sounds pretty cool.

I always wanted to make one. I might make one 36x18x18 LxWxH. And putting in peat filtration to mimic the amazonian black water and a few ferns ontop and sand for the subtrate and throwing in a teacup stingray as the centerpiece and maybe some anoles on the land part or dart frogs :).

wow i just looked at those sites and i cant believe i spent almost an hour learning something new. awesome sites. definitely has me thinking about turning some of my empty tanks to build a paludarium

someone here made a large enclosure, originally for basiliks, with around 150g of water where he was gonna put fish

It sounds nice....but that size tank is not nearly big enough for even the smallest of ray species for life. I am not trying to discourage anyone, just be sure that you will have the funds and commitment to upgrade the tank as needed.

I had a setup like that when I kept monitor lizards and they were still babies..(under 2ft). Was defininetly cool..cool looking and was pretty much maintanence free except occasional water change...
And the lizards loved it.

Fish and crawdads in water kept waste "cleaned" up. It was a 60gal with a wiremesh frame to the ceiling of the room..then shrinked wrapped it all with the shrinking weatherproofing stuff to help control heat in cage.

Not sure if it was a factor, but both of the lizards got way bigger than average. They out grew it in less than a year, the male was around 7ft after two years.

I keep a bull frog in my 50 gallon tank, and just built a little bit of land out made out of a lava rock. I have the water down below stocked with gouramis, cory cats, and a couple of plecos.

but u have to make sure the the amphibian/reptile u put in is amphibious or acquatic because i have heard of cases where i think it was dart frogs got into the water and couldnt get out and the $20+ frogs drowned
