Are Halite salt crystals that they use for melting ice ok for aquarium use? its says its sodium chloride but alot of the crystals have a yellow to brown color to them and not sure if thats another mineral or what.
anyone ever use it?

ive used solar salt but no one is carrying it in my area. just halite. can i use it? 6 bucks for 40lbs.

Food grade halite salt can be used in aquariums. The halite salt used for driveways and sidewalks to melt ice contains impurities. Therefore, it should not be used in aquariums.

yeah don't use it, it will have chunks of rock and other crud in it. You can just buy ice cream salt or pickling salt from the grocery store.
