I have a 10g that I've been trying to decide what to do with. Came across these Halloween Crabs...what would be the ideal setup for one? Yes I've googled, there is some conflicting information. Some places say all land with just a bowl, some say half salt water half land, some say half fresh half land, some say room temperature is fine (my room temperature is about 70), some say they need a heat pad, some say sand, some say reptile bark...:nilly:

How about...half sand, half water with a pinch of Instant Ocean? (Would they still need a bowl of freshwater?). Is black sand okay? Does the water need to be dechlorinated? Does anyone here keep them...and know what their poo looks like? :grinno: Could I just shovel the poo out, or does the sand need to be replaced periodically? Do they have any odor? Haha yes I've researched, but there isn't a "ton" of info about them.

I currently have three living in a thirty gallon tank.I have learned that they are mainly land dwelling crabs so I have them in just enough water to keep their heater submerged which keeps them warm enough untill I get a better heating system. There are several large flat rocks for the crabs to climb up and rest upon.Their poo looks like little black ink blotches, there is no odor that I have noticed but I guess there would be if their tank is not kept clean.I always thought that most crabs were scavengers but these do not feed on the dead feeders that I drop in for them, they seem to really like the aquatic turtle pellets over anything else that I've tried. They are said to become quite tame and I've seen pictures of them being held in owners hands and even on the top of their heads.Try to pm Bluecrabofpain,he had some a while back and may still have them.
