so my lfs just got a few polys and i just opened up a tank :D
75 gal with nothing in it right now... filtration is ac 110 and penguin 350..
light layer of black color quartz..

so anyway... onto the fish :P

they have dels, endlis, and ornates.. not too sure on the prices right now but im not super worried about that..

i guess my question to you guys is... how large do they each get? which ones are more "playful" and which have nicer patterns as they get large?

for the smaller ones i know that by smallest: palmas-10 inches? sen-12 inches del-14 inches but after that ive never kept them so i dont know those sizes.

ah i just looked at the sizes on the sticky :P looks like 30+ for endli, 14 del, 27 ornate

anyone know which one is more friendly? i saw a super active ornate at a lfs in the area but not sure if they are all like that..

im not sure on friendlyness but my sen's are pretty active but thats all i know about.

I just bought an ornate last night.. cute little one.. very social.. as soon as i put him in he went and explored and then swam all the way to the top and stared my baby silver arowana in the face.. like they were talking or something:grinno: Anyways i like him:) and i will go back and get a delhezi and maybe another ornate or maybe 2 delhezi.. or a senegal.. i dont know yet.. but so far i love my ornate

I think the 75 gallon makes the decision fairly straightforward. ALthough unlikely that either the Ornate or Endi you may pick up will hit the sizes you listed. either at 20inches would be pretty cramped. Go with a couple of dels, unless an upgrade to a wider tank is in the future.

hehe ya if i was gonna keep them in the 75 it would for sure be some dels... but im gonna be upgrading to a 375sh gal once i build it this spring/summer.. starting to put money away already and fabbing up plans.. i plan on meeting with my deform professor to discuss my plans for the tank but im pretty sure my design will be fine..

tank dims will roughly be 96x30x30

lol dang i would get a couple ornates then

In that case, you will not regret picking up a couple of ornates and endis. Personally I find my Male Ornate much more active and personal than either of my endis. However you cannot beat the look of a big endi,.

Good luck and be sure to through up a thread on the tank build for us to drool over.

haha will do.. :D probably gonna grab the polys after i get to the halfway point for saving up for the build :D

is there any number that is good to have? i know they do better in groups... but what is the general rule for keeping them? 3-4? or 20-50? lol
