so i thought about getting my girlfreind a hampster,they seem active and cute,is it true they only live 2 to 3 years?I just dont know how i would feel getting her a rat or mouse since they are more food to my pets and it makes me feel bad enough but i like how the hampsters look and act.Chinchilas are bigger money and i dont know crap about G pigs.So hampsters just croak around 3 years old or what?

We had a pair of teddy bear's when I was a kid.
One of them was nice as could be, the other one was absolutely rotten. It would bite, hard and sleep all day. Only came out when nobody was around.
They both lived about 4 years. Really easy to care for. Just make sure you handle them from a young age a lot so they just don't turn into some vicious ball of fur contributing to the monthly bill.
