I was feeding my marble cat some smelts today and decided to see if my little 5" rtc would like any. I've been feeding him little pieces of shrimp and carnivore pellets but never any smelts. He went nuts as soon as he got a whiff  He shot up to the top played a little tug of war and swam away with a 6" smelt hanging out of his mouth :WHOA: He worked on it for about 20 minutes and got it about half way down before I stuck my hand in and stole it back. I really like this little guy, he has nice color and a real people friendly attitude at a very small size. He's been growing about an inch a week since I put him in the 150 all by himself.

So the myth is confirmed.......... Little RTC's can and will take food from the hand at a very small size :naughty:..... And try and eat something way bigger than themselves :screwy:

Those guys are awsome.

lol, you gotta love them

How long did it take to get it down. LOL that funny

hahaha awesome story and awesome pics. must be part snakehead, looks like unhinged jaws to me!

LMAO ... yeah Mind has been trying his luck at things that are bigger than him ... like the Shrimp he eats are good for 2 meals... he tries to take the whole thing in one... also tries to eat the plastic plants in the tanks as well ... they are twice as long as he is LOL

I'm not seing much length growth yet though .. mostly width... he's becoming a fat *** just laying around all day waiting to be fed ...

Good to see yours doing so well :D

ive been hand feeding mine since he was 2 inches

Sweet pics you have a great cat on your hands if he is already comming to the surface to feed.

My rtc has always come to the top to hand feed it started w/ blood worms and is now eating cod fillets still more gentle than my kitten
