Amongst the Catfish & Plecos
I started to hand feeding my tigrinus to make sure he was getting enough food, so the little NTTs in the tank are getting pretty used to my hands. Still, I was quite shocked tonight when one of the little guys came busting out of his pipe and grabbed a piece of krill from my hand!:WHOA: I hand feed a lot of my fish, but I generally know what to expect in terms of their behavior as they get older. Since I know nothing about dats, I thought I would ask if I should encourage this, or, since I like my fingers, should I skip it? :D

I hand feed my 3" NTT. I've got him on carnivore sinkers already, it works because there's a lot of competition in my tank for food so he knows when my hand goes in the tank to snag that food.

Well theres no harm in it. I have a dat that eats from your hand....anytime you go by the tank he looks right up to the surface waiting for food. Just one more thing to like about dats in my opinion.

My IT started eating market shrimp from my hand at the surface. Also, my NGT started eating food sticks, so it's been a good week for me.

Cool! Thanks everyone. I'm happy to hear I'm not going to regret it as its nice they are getting more bold. :)

I would say you are lucky that your Dat is feeding of your hand. Mines are all shy to take if from my hand.. :(

couldnt agree more..dat's are one of my fav fish to watch eating.

I agree you are lucky. Only one of mine will come up and take from my hand and even at that point he is slow to do it.
