Yeah goldfish are pretty smart and personable.

yeah they're cool, very easy to condition behaviors. They used to bunch up into one corner of the tank when they saw me, so now I feed in the middle of the tank and they spread out more when they see me near the tank now.

IMO, when they get to know you they are almost like cichlids, minus the aggression. I had one of those carnival feeders I won once when i was a kid. And I kept it until it reached about 7 inches. I remember it was smart. One of these days I might get a goldfish and grow it out.

Cool, a lot of people hate on them, but that's because they're in that group of under appreciated/forgotten old school fish.

I agree with you that they are as personable as cichlids, but instead of bashing the glass in aggression, they are bashing the glass in gluttonous joy of recognizing someone is about to feed them lol

I hope you do grow out a gold, seeing a huuuge comet or fancy goldfish is an impressive sight.

Flaring_Shutter had a big comet goldfish, and her trademark logo on the shirts she made for MFK peeps has a small goldfish on it.

I always adore my aqua puppies, orandas.:hearts: Have to admit I have 11 of them at home and they're really personable. The largest is 10" with 7-8" body size not including the tail. I also keep a Siamese doll named Cash and he likes to beg around for food whenever I approach his quarantine tank. He has gained a lot of weight and size as he was really skinny when I bought him.
