Hey guys i been hand feeding my ornate for the past 2 weeks and i was wondering if i could continue this thruout me raising him. He is a baby only about 3 inch big now but when he gets older will he stop taking food from my hand.

If you have a desire to hand feed your bichir you should keep it up.. in my experience you can win a lot by gaining "the trust" of a fish. It gets hella lot easier moving a fish if it's used to you and getting handled..

Mine touched my hand when I was cleaning the tank and I screamed like a little girl, don't think I could do it.
LMAO sound like me with my electric catfish. This guy is small like 3 inch so i wouldnt scream i dont think his bit is strong enough yet. but i will continue to hand feed him. I will try and borrow someones video camcorder so i can post a video of it.

I know for a fact that the first thing my bichir does when I see him in the morning is determine whether or not he can eat me. I see how he watches me from across the room...His confidence grows every day...It's unsettling...

if you get their trust when their small there's no reason they won't trust you when they grow. i hand feed every fish i own, from my 5" baby arowana to my 20" lungfish. its the best part of having fish IMO.
