Anyone here hand feed there aro?? if so how can you train your aro to do so mine is still scared by my shadow>:l

how big is your aro? really speaking its not recommended.. it takes a lot of time for any animal to trust.. my aros actually recognise my hand movements.. well they think i'm gonna feed em.. they actually wait right under my hand for the food to drop.. i know it sounds real cool to hand feed a monster fish.. but even if you did its not a good habit for the fish 
they probably won't handfeed well until they are big enough for silversides, smelt, and whole shrimp. I've handfed my 30" silver everyday since he was about 14"+.
if ur aro scared of ur shadow..maybe u need to spend more time with it?
i watch my fishes alot of times whenever i pass my tank, and i think he got use to people in my house. and yeah i also like to put my hand in the tank LOL
my aro is approx 7 inches right now and started to take dried krill of my hand a week or less ago, i was suprised and excited the first time in happened and still is everytime.
right before that i feed it lives and frozen bloodworm since he refused pellets(he was 5-6 inches), i also bought sinking massivore for my bichers and BGK 3 days ago and the aro would catch the massivore before it sink LOL

anyway right after i posted this actually i tried handfeeding him shrimp... and he freakin took it btw what kinda aro you have?? mines silver but it has red stripes kinda like a tiger on its upper and lower fins really crazy7 inch is a bit small for hand feeding , although not impossible. small arowanas are more skitish than larger ones. i'm sure by the time he's 14 inch and up , you would have no problem with feeding him by hand, just wait until he's really hungry, he'll start taking it off your hand.
I could hand feed my jardini arowana before I moved her to the big tank. She would actually let anyone hand feed her. The only problem was she was not gentle taking the food. The would engulf the food and fingers all in one and you could feel her teeth on your skin. She wouldn't break the skin but it was surprising when she did it. I did it once and I didn't want to do it again, same with my dad. You should have seen him jump when she took it from him. LMFAO!
