A member on another forum posted that approximately 40 minutes after using hand sanitizer her son had his hands in the aquarium. The effect was internal bleeding, brain bleeds, and blindness. She lost most of her fish. Beware, hand sanitizer will kill.

Yup.
I always try to "wash" my hands in clean water past the elbows before I go in my tanks. That came from my great uncle when I was a kid and I have stuck with it since.
