Just curious what type of critters have you guys picked up when introducing natives to you tanks. I dont know all the sci names but I have picked up some tailfin worm type parasites(which salt takes care of) and quite a few mosquito larvae which the fish take care fo pretty quickly.

Ive done a little research on the crawdad worms, its a biachar type word for those, and from what I understand they are not harmful. So anyone else ran into anything??

I got snails from native plants but I suppose that happens with tropical plants too

I have gotten the worms mentioned with wild caught crawdads and they did seem harmless, but very unsightly, salt didnt kill them either.
Snails are common hitchhikers as are more serious bristlworms and mantis shrimp in saltwater.

I just hope all the mosquito larvae dont evade being eatn and start flying all over the house!!!!

I tried water hyacinth and water lettuce plants on top. I bought the plants from Home Depot. Using the plants was a very bad idea in a bedroom. The plants were rinsed very well. I had mosquitos on the glass lid, on the ceiling and flying around the halls. I finally got rid of them from flying around the room by turning the lights off for hours for them to rest on the ceiling and crushed them quickly. I got rid of the plants.

i got hydra from a plant i bought from my lfs but thats not native lol any one have any ideas on how to get rid of them?

I have the same problem at the moment, IM doing 80 percent water changes and cutting down on feeding tremendously, lots of salt too. Good luck

There coral based organisms so I dont really see how salt would help either, but a local aquarist told me to dose the tank with salt so im not sure if its more a benifit for the fish in the process of hydra or what.
