On christmas eve i was shocked by a horrible scene. My 10" oscar girl Boss was spooked jumped and got caught between the glass and the edge of the tank. She didnt fall out but instead shimmied backwards back into the tank. Unfortunately she would have been better off completely jumping out for someone to rescue. On squeezing back in while being sandwiched she basically scraped both her sides along the edges leaving this mess. She seems to be recovering but any advice on how to help would be great. Did salt and heat . Anyone else have a fish bounce back from horrible injuries?

My poor girl :( she is by far the house wet pet and favorite.

3 weeks max and she'll be great again. Just don't let any infection get to her. A lot of protein-rich foods also help in the healing process. The scales will take longer than the closing of the wound. It will leave battle scars though but she should be okay. Here's my 12" beauty (golden female also):

If i were you i would get some stress coat and put a little in there it works all the time for my fish.

Yeah I have this stuff called Bio Bandage that I keep in case any of my fish might sustain a bad flesh injury. It helps the wound heal while protecting it from infection, that's what it is said to do anyhow lol...Good clean water and the passage of time is usually good enough though.

Ouch. I think she'll be fine.:)

I was doing a water change yesterday and noticed my flow was alot less than usual. I check the sink, then I walk to the tank and find my 7 year old Rainbow shark has completely blocked the gravel vac........wow. Shark must have swam around the tank for 3 hours trying to find a safe place after I dislodged him. I only really worry because he's pretty much a senior citizen and traumatic situations might not be good for him. He was back out herding my SD's tonight so Im hoping he learned his lesson.......

She'll probably recover fine. Add Melafix to help her heal.

I ve used Melifix and can honestly say salt goes alot farther and better. I think it works, but I know salt works.......just my 2c
