Need an idea for whats in title. So far wondering if i can just stuff it with filter padding or can i just fit a sponge in it? Should work right?

Yes I cut plastic egg crate from home Depot to fit, then I placed pillow stuffing from Walmart behind it . Also placed fluval sponge in the hob filter.
Depends on how the hob is designed since they're all a bit different. What brand and model? Do you have a picture?
Not at home to see brand, but I think its gotta be similar to lindsey's because I can do what she/he is saying. No need to overthink I'm just a noob with HOB
