I really like the electric blue coloring on the male Hap Ahlis..I was considering buying a very small male (2 inches) at my lfs. My tank is about 4 feet long and has two male peacocks and one female..the dominant and biggest peacock in the tank right now is about 4-5 inches. I've heard to never mix these species as the Ahli is much more aggressive and will kill all the males..I've also heard and seen that they can co-exist with one another. please give me some input.

The Ahli may attack the peacocks, if you want to add the Ahli I would probably add more peacocks to displace the aggression

I have heard the same thing, but haven't found it to be true. I have a 5" male Ahli in my Malawi tank (5' 120g). It is the same size or bigger than the 8 peacocks (M-Eureka, M-Otter Point x2, M-unidentified Jacobfreibergi, M-OB Peacock x3, F-OB Peacock). He does not bother any of them.

I have kept Ahlis with peacocks, other haps, and Mbuna without any problems. I have never known to be aggressive.

i have one with my peacocks too. about 4-5 years and no problems. i would get rid of the one female you have though as that could start some problems with the males wanting to breed.

No problems here. Have a massive one in my 180 community and smaller one in the 150 community, both with a bunch of variously-sized peacocks.

If those are the only three (soon to be four) fish in the tank, I'd definitely add more though to spread aggression down the road as fish mature.

My local "PetDumb" as I often refer to them keep removing them and call them a "Problem Child" but I have never really had a problem.......but that could just be dumb luck.......
