In the caiman den
I just turned on the light on my planted tank for the first time in a few days(black out to fight blue green algae and hair algae, both 99% gone) and saw my shrimp(forget species, need Rachel to help here). I added 10(bought from rachel, thanks again) and put them in a few weeks ago. I rarely see them(my tank is pretty heavily planted in the back) but they are more comfortable now so i do see them more often. Well i turn on the lights and count 8 shrimp. Best of all, 5 are prego!!!!:WHOA: 5!!:headbang2 4 of the 5 have HUGE clutches, one is just decent sized. You can see in the pics the size of 2 of the clutches. I didnt get pics of the other 3 prego because i didnt see them untill after i put the camera away. Some of the pics are blurry, sry. hard to snap pics of them up close and Lampeyes(greatest micro fish ever) never stop moving. they are awesome fish!!:headbang2

Happy day!!:headbang2

EDIT* ugh those lampeyes do not take pics well. If you are thinking about getting some do not use my pics to base your opinion. These are awesome fish that dont take pics well. The blue in thier eyes are VERY bright under normal light, even brighter under dim light. Constant feeders and very personable as far as micro fish go.

Woot! your gonna be an uncle! they look like some kinda Cardinia sp?... BTW I like the way you scaped.. hehe kinda looks like my 20. I have rotalia all over the back of mine that needs abit of work once the aba aba gets moved. sweet center-piece. that looks like some kinda rock?

thanks^. Iv had prego shrimp before but just thought it was awesome to only have 10 shrimp, multiple of which arnt sexually mature, and 5 of them are prego. 4 of which are truly massive clutchs(at least in my experience)

thanks! i luv it. When the light was on often and i was dosing, i was getting nearly 3/4 of an inch of growth A DAY on the plant in the back. Not so much with the black outs. I need to do yet another sadly. still a bit more.

yeah its a rock. My favorite place to go native collecting has a unique spot to collect rocks. Ill have to snap a pic of it. it is one large rock that has huge channels cut through it. this rock was sitting with it so long it got cut. I had to snatch it. got a few more like it somewhere. I thought it made a great center piece.

Malawas! They are a sulawesi shrimp :) Great job! I told ya they would breed you out of house and home :D

Here is a bad vid of lampeyes. They really are hard to capture on any sort of media but GLOW in a tank:
