After 2 weeks of breeding I was able to get my Midas to breed. The eggs were laid on the top left corner which made it a challenge for Junior. Being in the pot was hard enough, but flipping around was another. This actually happened friday at lunch, just haven't had enough time to post until now.

I have to apologize for the quality of the video. Had to take it on the fly as it was lunch and I needed to get back to work. I also had my 1yr old climbing all over me which is why the video is shaky. She loves the fish and loves to sit on my lap when I am at the table watching them.

One thing I am sure some will comment on is the fact that I don't use dividers. Honestly I really hate them and a clay pot that serves as a solid hiding place. Seen dividers knocked down too many times in the past including with myself. I lost a Salvini when a divider went down and my Amphilophus Zaliousus killed her. As long as there are pots that only the female can fit in, the males tend to relax more. Been 10years doing it this way with no deaths or even brutalizing of females using this technique. This set up is even better since the female can easily out maneuver my big guy amongst the plants. Not to mention he cannot fit behind the large plan'ts pot either.

Congratulations on the spawn I am lookin forward to how the little guys progress. I agree about the dividers I have never liked them they take so much space away from the fish. I like the flower pot technique a lot. It is working quite well with my pair of hogs. I am even considering using them for my centrachus.

Congrats Scott!!! They look really good. I'll take some fry off you:) your male is a beast. happy Easter bro:)

Gorgeous pair! I'm glad they hit it off. The pots are functional and look a lot better than obtrusive dividers to me any day. It doesn't look like you'll have a problem finding people to buy your fry either. Great job and good luck with the pair.

Thanks man, happy easter to you too. If I could figure out a way to get you some I'll see what I can do. That one male you have though might turn into a similar creamsickle like Junior. Looks just like him when he was that size.
What a spectacular male! Where did you get them?
He is an F2 that I kept from a pair of F1's I had from Jeff Rapps.
