It's not just a day for drinking green beer! Just wanted to spread a little Irish cheer on the forums.
The first Irish ancestor of mine (that I can find in records anyway) that came to America was Moses Driskell in 1722. He came from a small fishing village called Kinsale.
It might be hard to imagine today but there was extreme prejudice against the Irish in early America. However, they were eager to work, and took many low paying and dangerous jobs that helped build this country.
