My step-grandfather was Captain Daniel W. Tomlinson, U.S. Navy Aviator. He was a test-pilot first and foremost, but a great commander as well. He was instrumental in coordinating the Navy's involvement in the Berlin Airlift. He was one of the first pilots to use the Jet Stream as a flying tool. He held numerous speed records during the 1930's. He flew with Charles Lindberg as his co-pilot. He went to court-martial 4 times for disobeying direct orders (always in the course of test-piloting an aircraft). He was good to my Grandma.
I'm proud of who he was and what he did.
