Good afternoon everyone

I am after some information from people who use hard plumbed canister filters,

How do you attach the pipe to the canister itself

Currently I have a 90% hard plumbed system that convert to flex pipe to enter the pre canister booster. How ever I'm finding lots of issues when it come to cleaning it out with there being very little give in the pipes.

I'm hoping I've missed a bit of kit that makes everything super easy 😂😁

If anyone would care to share the expierances or tip would be most helpful

Thanks

Are you using Unions on the PVC?
Doesn't matter if its on a sump or a can, anything with PVC.

Union connectors make detaching and attaching during maintenance much easier than trying to wrestle with PVC piping.
I put them near pump connections, and every couple feet.

Sadly I found these after I connected everything together 🙈 but they look the best solution. I've seen so far, I can see some re piping in my future 🤣

Has anyone managed to plumb straight into the canister

I used 1" vinyl hose to connect my fx6 to 1" threaded barb fittings on my tank's bulkheads. The 1" hose seemed to work perfectly on the fluval valve fittings. Ime the whole setup worked better than the supplied fx6 strainer and nozzles since i was able to customize the return nozzles and rig the drain for better surface skimming.

Sounds like you need to have it 80% hard plumbed. The difference in flow isn't going to be significant, only reason I can think of to leave yourself such a tiny bit of flex is masochism?
