I'm taking down my 125g RR sw tank and I'm going make it fw tank. I would like to get rid of the sump and use two Xp3 canisters that I have laying around. Has anyone hard plumbed canister filters to RR tank??? Or does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this???

Thanks

Only problem I personally see with hooking up canisters to a drilled tank with overflows is that you have to be very watchful of your evaporation. Simply because once it gets low, then your sucking in air and possibly blowing your filter up.

Just make sure you use unions to ease in the on/off maintenance of the canisters.
In my opinion, as long as you have the sump available, why not use it for fresh water?
To me sumps make maintenance so much easier than fiddling with canisters.
I use sumps on all my fresh water tanks.

+1 I would never go back to a canister filter. Lol
