i just got some 20 gallon tanks for free, but they have wicked hard water stains and i dont know how to clean it off effectively. what do you guys do? i dont really want to use chemicals because the tanks will be put to use and i dont want to kill any of the occupants. any suggestions?
thanks

Nice, have to try that on the hood for my circa 1970's 14 gallon tank I got from my mom years ago.

I always hear White Distilled Vinegar is good for cleaning

Razor blades and elbow grease!

the vinegar works nicely because the best way to neutralize a base is with an acid, and hard water stains are only mineral deposits.

You can also use razor blades/scratch free brillow pads in conjunction with something gritty (course salt, baking soda... you get the picture)

Home Depot sells a product called Spot X, works like a charm with minimal scrubiing, doesnt scratch the glass and is made from sea shells. I used it to clean both my 75 & 55-gallon tanks with zero ill effects.

Where in HD would that product be located? They always have that place so disorganized. I'll have to give that a try.
