i wanted to add a pleco in my female's tank, but im im afraid she might muder it overnight LOL any hardy plecos out there that would stand it ground and eventually live in harmony with my female FH?? i was thinking, maybe get a a pleco ALOT bigger than her...but that would kinda suck right? oh and btw no decor or what so ever, just sand:D

should i move this to the pleco section? LOL

Depends Ive had killer flowerhorns that willl kill anything in the tank including plecos as well some flowerhorns who could care less about them. I would go for a common so if it wants a midnight snack you wont be out much. May want to give a small place for the pleco to hide like a piece of pipe so if the flowerhorn goes after it there is a safe area.

i would start with a common pleco....

Depending on how big the Flowerhorn is now, the 40 should be fine (if its small) but Camphilophus is right. A 40 high is too small when it becomes an adult. As for a pleco, I would go with a common as well or maybe a bristlenose provided there is a place for the pleco to hide.

try a rhino or common pleco if anything.

Wow I totally agree with Cam for once. I would not buy anything unless you plan on upgrading. That 40 tall has barely enough room for that one FH.

Don't even try a pleco thats a terribly small tank for a flowerhorn. Cichlids don't need height either, a 40long might work for a little bit but 40tall is terrible.

40 TALL? If you want the proper home lowest I would go is a 60g

longer > taller

deeper > taller
