Hardy Water Lilies

Its almost spring and i want to try Hardy Water Lilies (Nymphaea spp) for my new pond/fountain, but i have no experience with this plant

Can theses lilies grow well in shallow waters? (~17inch deep)

17" is fine.

In shallower water, look for dwarf varieties that will stay smaller.
