I've been looking at picking up a tadpole madtom for my 120 gallon Sarasa pond. I've never caught one but they're classified a bait fish here in the North East and beyond cold water distributors I can't imagine I'd have to spend any real money.

Does anybody have any stories, recommendations, or information for the board?

PDF with good pic and lots of information

I would like some, but haven't found any yet. I did get stung by a baby bullhead collecting fish today. I was surprised by the pain, my finger hurt for almost 5 minutes. Not a big deal, but for a baby I was impressed.

Getting stung is my big worry. When I prep my smaller ponds for spring I dive in to my shoulders and pull out all my plant baskets to repot and pull the big rocks out. Then I scoop all the leaves and black walnuts out with a net. I'm destined to accidentally find it. I have a ]\/[onster bullfrog I find time and time again with my bare hands that nearly makes me deficate myself.

The river by my house is the Delaware.

I have some sort of madtom right now. Its pretty large as far as madtoms go at about 3". I think a bullhead would be better suited for your pond since madtoms love to squeeze into any tight crevice and hide all day. Being so small in a large ponds seem boring as you will never see it! I love mine in my 10 gal though. The black with yellow fins is jsut lovely!

Thats a great fish! Let me know if you figure out what it is! I have to have one!

I have seven tadpole madtoms, they are great little fish and so far easy to keep, I have had them for about three months or so. They eat everything. Flakes, bloodworms, brineshrimp, smaller fish. At first the would hide most of the day but once they got used to the tank they started coming out more and will feed day or night.

Either magtoms or bullheads usually come in with the ghost shrimp at many Petlands, and they are usually eager to get rid of them....
