Has anyone achieved balance and peace with thier fish collections?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am close to it. As I close in on 33 years fish keeping, i have returned to my first love, goldfish, and as such my collection is 100 per cent goldfish.

After meditating on this question for a while, I realized that these fish bring me balance and peace.

Having said that i will always look to upgrade in terms of pure gallonage and filtration, but on the whole i've achieved a certain balance, and this important to someone who frets about their fish and the hobby all the time.

Have you achieved balance, peace and tranquility yet? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

My first post in a while is a deep one :)

Nope. Cichlids are my fish that I like a lot but they don't really bring peace tranquility and balance when they are ripping apart feeders (sorry don't let your goldfish read this :D) but they are pretty damn awesome

Oh then maybe, maybe not. I'm always thinking about bigger and better tanks :D I'm the type of person who thinks you can never be done. I'm also always trying to keep my fish perfect. Even my water can't be one tiny bit cloudy or I freak out.

This is me too. Having said that, i've found some balance with the actual stock I keep.

I have not ,but my friend certainly has ,and in order to reach his state he has gone to countless hours of anticipations, hundred of fish thousand of dollars ,in his last disapointement he gave away a 750 gallons tank including a 3 footer nurse shark ,Fortunately now he seems to be completly in tune w/himself ,he has surrounded himself w/a 3000 g Pima tank one mean looking Sexfaciatus that seems to be getting duller now due to his size ,lots of plants with their roots penetrating the water providing a refuge for about 300 guppies,he refuses to leave the house unless he has to,:confused::confused: so he would not miss a minute from the contemplation of his new creation , now if only he could get rid of some super looking kois that he has collected while the search was going on . Just sayin.

I am getting really close to that. I just need to perfect some nitrate reducing techniques and I'll be there.

It does bring me great peace to sit back and stare at the tank...

In a 300 gallon:
8 Angelfish
9 Geos Orange Head Tapajos
1 Hystrix Ray

The angelfish have plenty of room up top to play and setup territories. The geos are constantly sifting through the sand like a bunch of cleaners. And then you have the ray gliding over the sand very gracefully. Sometimes when they're all doing their thing it's the most perfect thing to look at.

That said I may mix up the stock a little cause I like changing things often.

I mis understood your title. I thought you meant peace and balance in my tanks. I am at peace now with my fish. They all get along no fighting. When some of my fish pick on others constantly it stresses me out. I recently got rid of 2 Brycon Dentex that kept punk'in my VAT. Now there gone and my tanks in peace and now I'm at peace.
