I bought a breeding pair of JD's a month ago and I literally have seen them ONCE since they went in the tank. I have large pieces of driftwood and all they do is hide!:irked: Was hoping they would have a similar personality to my Oscar, but am very dissapointed. Am going to try and sell them and find something a little more active? Any ideas? It's a standard 4 ft tank, no plants, just wood :D

I am only disappointed if the seller is off by more than an inch with the listed size. Ordering a 6" fish and getting a 3" one makes a big difference in a predatory tank.

Bought a calico varigated shark one time for $30. Damn thing hid all the time. So I sold it. That is why I like larger schooling fish because you can see them and they rarely hide.

Bought some angelfish and were disappointed at first, but now they look awesome. Listed it on craigslist and got 2 replies in 5 mins, one saying they'll take them with phone #. My parents said no selling them so now I'm starting a new tank in my room for other fish xD

We bought a ropefish and were severely disappointed. We had an in-tank filter that had a large log it sat in for a base. The ropefish hid inside the 'leg' of the log all the time and was dumb as a rock. It rarely came out for food.

Other than that, whenever I bought a fish that hid I just rearranged things slightly or in the case of my pictus, bought him a few friends.

That's the worst! Why don't people just get an actual correct measurement? I mean, they know your going to find out they lied. What's the attraction of saying a fish is bigger than it is? I just picked up a new fish that is over two inches smaller than I was told. Luckily it wasn't a big deal, but come on.

I hate when the seller says it eats something and it doesnt. Or even does not even eat much at all. Thats my least favorite thing that has happened.

I also bought a "breeding pair" of Carpintis one time that could not stand the sight of each other and rarely ate as well.

i buy a serrasalmus rhombeus around 2", now it bigger around 6" and results that i have a serrasalmus sanchezi:WHOA::irked::swear: very dissapointed of this:nilly:

I bought a Dovii from a woman in Edmonton, she must have molested it or something because it hid all day all the time and was scared of every little thing.

Same here. I've had my rope for about 6 months and I've only seen him 3-5 times. He hides in a log. The only option is to take it out of one tank and place him in a tank with minimal hiding spaces.
