that Oscars are incredibly shy fish? Mine always dive back to the corner or under something whenever I come in the room. It's like they don't want to be seen or something. Maybe mine are just weird..

Usually shy only at first. My two little one are the first ones to the front when they see me. Actually can't get rid of them when trying to do maintenance.
 
In a new environment, or a stressed environment, Oscars will hide, and lay on their sides. This is normal. They will loosen up and become entertaining soon. :)

your fish must be stressed. my oscar is always the first fish at the front of the tank when i approach. he's the most curious, bravest, and tamest fish in my tank.

It could be the fact that they have only been in the tank for 2 days, still getting used to the sorroundings and things of that sort. I left the light on for a bit when I went to bed last night to see if they would come out after I was "gone", and sure enough they were all about. Deceitful little buggers lol :cry:
