... an uaru?!?!!

My male (around 7") is getting pretty protective of his corner, even when they don't have eggs, and is starting to have a go at my hand when I'm siphoning the gravel. He's got pretty close to my finger a couple of times, and will actually bite the siphon. I'm sure people have been bitten by aggressive CA cichlids countless times and I know uaru don't have huge mouths or teeth, but I've seen the little bite marks they make in the driftwood so I'm kinda worried what will happen to my finger if/when he gets it!

Not by a uaru, but I got bitten by a dovii, oscar and a badly aggresive Umbie(that Hurt)!

haha. little monster. my GT didnt have big teeth either and he broke the skin and took blood on my knuckle where the skin is quite thick. uaru have sharp black teeth, you can see them clearly so they arent that small, big enough to rip wood up, so im sure skin will not be a challenge to them. i couldnt see my GT's teeth, felt them mind you, and look at my damage description. i think the uaru may hurt if it bites as they have considerably bigger teeth.

uaru got some teeth on em' too - I wouldn't count on him having a go at your actual hand without eggs in the tank...unless you're messing with whatever peice of decor he's claimed as home.

not seen or heard of it, ive been bitten by RD's and had my hand shredded by my male jag when i used to have him.

devils and midas all the time, saggitae everyday if I'd let him, and most recently my 2.5" killer flowerhorn lol. Almost got bit by a clown loach yesterday. Never by my uaru though but they are some mean little son of a .....'s.

i have seen what uaru have done to shrimp but have been bitten by paratilapia nicaraguenes and oscars.

I'll try make a video tonight, he's getting pretty close to biting my fingers when I'm siphoning, even when they don't have eggs. I always pull my hand away though, might have to have a few beers then try leave it there to see if he'll actually bite it.

my RD would attack my hand when she has eggs. she can draw blood and leave tiny scars. the other day, she went for me while I was cleaning. she didn't even have eggs.

gotta keep an eye on her!
