Has anyone ever breed a meeki with that is really red? or has good red saturation? I seem to recall 1 at 1 of the ACA shows. I wonder if that line got breed?

Meeki are very varied in colour intensity due to many factors.
First genetics, some meeki are naturally very red others pale depending on enviromental influence. For example fish that live over a limestone substrate can evolve paler colouration than those from areas of dark muddy substrates.
Tank environment can also influence the fishes colouration regardless of its lineage.fsh in darker tanks with darker substrates tend to show deeper brighter colours.
Genetics also play a big role.Meeki from the Rio subin tend to be very colourful therefore so will their offspring.
Lots of meeki found in fish stores are over bred over several generations and tend to be washed out looking.
If you really want a bright coloured meeki then it's best to order from a reputable supplier who can provide catch location and fish that are close to wild stock.
