Has anyone ever cured "gill curl" without surgery?

Has anyone ever cured "gill curl" without surgery? If so, what fish? and how?

Adopted a silver aro with slight gill curl, just gave it pristine water conditions and the condition reversed.

I had to do the surgery and was a sucess. gill grew back out normal, it was such an eye sore the see my fish with both sides gill curls.

mine is real slight just on the top of 1.

He is in pristine water alone. Hopefully it will get better
