hi i was woundering if anyone knows the cause of cloudy eye on p-bass. i read a couple things befor about stress and that they scratch there eye on wood and stuff but i recently got it on 8 of my bass... and as they got it a couple at a time i take them out and put them in a seperate tank to treat them.. but for some reason it was one after another.. at first i though it was the drift wood i had in the tank but as 3 of th em got it i took out the wood... with nothing but thumb side rocks on the bottom the rest of my bass caugh it too.. so im not sure wat it could be?? please help!!!!!

Cloudy eye is usually due to poor water quality. What are you ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels?

Edit: Also, how large are the fish and what size tank do you have them in? What type of filtration do you have?

I am not sure what type of filtration you have but I have never owned a p bass but want to badly ... any way I have heard of fishes eyes clouding do to bad water quality so have you checked the water parameters if so what were they hope this helps you and best of luck

If they are all getting it, it is probably poor water quality. Have you tested it?

edit - Two posters beat me to it!

i do about 20 % water changes every week or 2 weeks and its done with drinking water... so the water should be good.. i havent tested it yet though

This is most likely the problem. Did you cycle the tank? Read and familiarize yourself with the nitrogen cycle and buy some test kits. If you're going to keep fish that grow huge and eat a lot, it's important to test regularly so you can spot problems before things get really bad. Do a large water change tonight, and continue doing them daily until you have had your water tested. You can post the results and we can help you figure out what's wrong with your biological cycle. You could also be doing more water changes overall -- this isn't really removing that much waste bi-weekly.

i had them in a 210 with a fluval fx5 and a over hang like 300 or some thing... the water seems pretty clean.. they were fine for about 3-4 months and then out of no where 3 of my p bass got it.. then the next day 3 more got it... then 2 days later 4 of them got it... but i did a water change after 3 of them got it so im not to sure wat could be wrong??

Let us know the numbers so we can help you get back on track!

i have a jardini bout 8 inches, 4 monos at 6inches, and 6 orinos at 4-5 inches.. i mean i think there good for at least 6 more months.. then i was gonna try and sell maybe 2 monos and 2 orinos.. but now im down to already 5 orinos and 1 mono in a 40 being treated with melafix...
