Converted a pool filter, to filter a pond? Not sure it's possible , but have heard about it being done before...........Just never seen it Myself ?

It's usually never really worth it. Pool filters aren't designed to take the biomass that exists in a living system. Usually they're good for bulk removal from a chlorine sterilized system. Pool filters usually incorporate pumps that use many times more electricity than aquarium pumps and the pool pumps will use even greater amounts of power under the additional filtering load of a living system.
I met a guy that used one on his 700 gallon African cichlid tank. I personally wouldn't do it, but it was working for him. A w/d would be so much better.
