I tried years ago and failed, the oscar had to be removed to save him. I was thinking about attempting it again, has anyone here had success with this mix?

What is your tank size? I think many people have kept the two species together successfully, but in huuuuuge tanks.

Definately wouldn't try it in anything smaller than a 200gl.

Tried it in my 210 and my 14 inch Oscar was owned by a 5 inch RD.

Well my tank size is 125G. My devil tends to ignore smaller fish, I guess he figures they pose no threat to him. I wonder if I were to get a small Oscar, I know he would be ignored at 1st, I wonder if by the time he got big enough to get the devil's attention, the devil would be used to him and not bother him?

i really dont see it working in a 125 g

Agree. They both just get too large. Unless you have a devil that is on the peaceful side, it probably won't work in anything less than 180g IMO.

Well my devil is unpredictable, he is peaceful with some fish you wouldnt think he would be, while there is no rhyme or reason to which other fish he decides to be hostile with.

my dad's tank has a 11" RD and a 10" oscar they are fine together my dad's RD is the nastiest ive ever seen but as long as the oscar know's he's boss he wont kill him, he's in with other fish aswell but as soon as something stands up to him there dead. they are in a 150 US gal 5x2x2 with other tank mates such as male jag male carpintis..

its all down to the fishes personality tho it could possibly be done.
