I have caught them before. Very pretty fish. I can tell you they are mean in the wild and attacked a plug. I know I have read a post about someone keeping them on MFK.
realy i becase i have cought swordspine snook in spilways in FL. i had them ID an they were swordspine snook.i know there are many other snook speices too.thanks for your help i was thinking of doing a magrove swamp(brakish)
there are some laws in fl with snook you should check cause it is a protected species you have to have a permit to keep them at 27" if you are talking about Centropomus spp.
Umm, actually they ( Centroponnus ensiferus) are caught in Florida, they are found as far north as the St Lucie river on the east coast but are very rarely caught on the west coast. Young ones are brackish and found mainly in mangrove areas but adults prefer very lightly brackish to full fresh water. Max out at near 15" but usually no more than 12".
