Has anyone kept large mouth bass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes they are amazing for aquariums. warmer water Temps causes them to be more active and eat more. I always kept a few juvies together and grew them out. any more direct questions ask, obviously you need a large tank

What is their usual growth rate?

From hatching in late winter until the fall, a LMB can be expected to grow to 6 - 8 inches in cool water. Their growth rate can be quicker in warm-water culturing. My LMB was about 2" when I got him. By next winter he grew to over 10".

Growing out some right now in the basement. Had small mouth for over a year. Caught it when it was around 3". It didn't eat much during the cold season, so it didn't grow much. Ate a lot more once the weather warmed up and put on an additional 4" this past summer.
The LMB was caught this past summer st around 5"
