california
or Geophagus Surinamensis
i was thinking of getting some and would like to know a little more about them if anyone has experiance with owning them
what is the best ph, water temp, ext
do they like sand or rock subtrate
any advice would be very much appreciated

Thank you!

I Guarantee they are not true surinamensis. Every time one gets labeled as such it's false due to the collection points. Most likely will be an altifrom. But if your keeping geos. Lower ph with softer water and sand substrate. Hence the name eartheater. They sift sand.

It is difficult to determine if it is a surinamensis or not. Many thought that megasema was surinamensis. I believe surinamensis is now a type like altifrons is. Weidner's book South American Eartheaters is the best resource for ID that I know of. It is not easy to come by.

It's actually quite easy to come by as they sell it on Amazon... Problem is that it's a few hundred dollars! :irked:
