Has anyone raised or know how to raise blood worms? all help appreciated

I believe blood worms are mosquito larva, so i dont know if anyone raises them. I find them in buckets of water in the summer. I take a small net and scoop them out.

Blood worm is a common term for any small invertebrate that is elongate and red. You might be talking about tubifex, black worms or fly larvae. Check these out and see which you are wanting to cultivate. There is a great thread on Aquaria Central where a lady grew tons (black worms, I think). A quick search will find it.

I grew plenty in my nano-pond for a year, but they mysteriously died off about a month ago.

Never tried marine species. I've seen those when I flip over rocks to see crabs at the beach though. Some of them are as big as nightcrawlers.

yea, i was wondering if you could somehow buy these guys at like a petsmart or even a LFS and grow them out or something....cuz around here they cost $12 a dozen for bait.

I just started a blackworm culture a few days ago in a 10g tank. It will be awhile before I know if it lives or not. If I succeed, I'll give advice. Anything I say now is just parroted.

Love this, though- http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214961&highlight=tubifex+blackworm
